Hi, I’m LeAnn — the maker behind Clairie June.
Clairie June grew from a combination of two things I love: creating beautiful garments and watching dancers come alive on stage.
My background is in apparel technical design and patternmaking, and I’ve spent nearly two decades working in the apparel industry. I’ve built my career around fit, construction, patternmaking, problem-solving, and turning a creative idea into a garment that not only looks beautiful, but moves and performs the way it should.
But Clairie June began much closer to home.
As a dance mom, I started creating costumes for my daughter, Kaylyn, and her studio. What began with a few costumes for small groups slowly grew. In 2023, I created a red solo costume for Kaylyn that became an especially meaningful piece for me. From there, one costume became another, new ideas kept coming, and before I knew it, I had created more than 150 costumes in a single dance season.
Somewhere along the way, Clairie June became more than a side project. It became a place where everything I had learned throughout my career could meet something much more personal.
I love the challenge of designing for movement—finding the balance between beauty, fit, function and individuality. Every dancer is different, and I believe their costume should feel like it belongs to them. Whether I’m creating a one-of-a-kind solo costume or costumes for an entire group, I want the finished piece to complement the choreography, help tell the story and give the dancer confidence when they step onstage.
There is a lot of technical knowledge behind every Clairie June costume, but there is also a lot of heart.
For me, that’s what makes this work so special.
